We All Scream For Ice Cream: Sonny's Toasted Marshmallow & Creme Brûlée at Crema
Let's get one thing straight: No matter how full I am, I can always find room for ice cream.
I'm pretty much a fan of any frozen dairy dessert, actually—fro yo, gelato, custard, semifreddo—you name it. I know these are all very different things, but for the sake of fun subject lines, I'll continue to title my frozen dairy dessert line of posts "We All Scream For Ice Cream". You're just gonna have to deal with that.
Back to the subject at hand, my husband and I went on a post-dinner walk the other night in search of ice cream and ended up at Crema, an adorable cafe with a tiny alley way patio adorned with ivy. It reminded me of the many little cafes tucked away in back alleys and side streets during our trip to Italy last spring. It had just thunderstormed so the sky was a mix of sunset and storm clouds, adding to the ambiance.
Crema has been making Sonny's Ice Cream for over 65 years with Minnesota "happy cows". After sampling the many rotating flavors, I finally settled on one scoop of Toasted Marshmallow and Creme Brûlée ice cream. It was an amazing, ooey, gooey sugar explosion. If it was wrong, I didn't want to be right. The $4 spent on the tiny scoop was totally worth it. My husband got a scoop of Cinnamon, Chocolate & Pistachio. Cinnamon and chocolate together is not my cup of tea, but he very much enjoyed it. I can't wait to go back and try one of the many other unique flavors. It makes me nervous that we live in such close proximity...
